CUDDALORE: Two class 9 girls were allegedly abducted and raped by three youths in Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu.
Police said the victims, class 9 students of a private school in Cuddalore town limits, were picked by the accused known to them from their houses on Saturday morning. When they did not return home by night, their parents launched a hunt for them and lodged a complaint with Tirupapaliyur police station on Sunday morning.

Police managed to trace the girls and detained the three youth, who were with them. Inquiries revealed that the youth identified as K Kaliyaperumal, 31, a lorry driver and P Silambarasan, 23 and M Sakthivel, 24, both daily wage labourers, lured them to a secluded spot and raped them.
Police booked them under Sections 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage) and 376 (punishment for rape) and arrested them. Police produced them before a magistrate who remanded them to judicial custody for 15 days.
