Two rowdies, on the run for two years, arrested

Chennai: Two ‘A+’ category rowdies who were on the run for more than two years were arrested by the city police on Sunday night.Police said, the accused identified as G Easwaran, 24, and S Yuvaraj, 23, from Tondiarpet are history-sheeters at New Washermenpet police station. The two have five murder cases against them. Easwaran has 25 criminal charges while Yuvaraj has 22 cases against him. They have been involved in cases of extortion and kidnapping.On Sunday night, based on an anonymous tip-off, police conducted vehicle checks at MPT colony in Subramania Siva Street.“The two left their vehicles behind and tried to escape. The men jumped over a compound wall and fractured their legs,” said a senior police officer. The police seized 1.390 kg of methaqualone drugs from them. The two were arrested for murdering a lawyer in Tiruppur years ago and were released on bail two years ago.tnn
