Chennai: Six people, including a juvenile girl and boy, were arrested on Wednesday, on charges of taking away household articles, including a television set and a gas cylinder, by force from the house of a 17-year-old boy who visited the juvenile girl's house a few days ago.
Police said the boy from Perungudi used to visit the house of the 17-year-old, his neighbour, frequently. A few days ago, the girl said an item of gold jewellery was missing from her house and suspected his involvement.
After the boy said he did not take it, the girl took four of her friends to his house on March 9 in an autorickshaw and took away an LED TV and a gas cylinder from the house.
Based on a complaint filed by the boy's mother, Thoraipakkam police registered a case and arrested Kishore, 21, Bharathkumar, 18, Dakshinamoorthy, 18, and Vignesh, 19, all from Kallukuttai in Perungudi. Another juvenile boy and the girl, both aged 17 years, were also held. Police recovered the LED TV and gas cylinder and seized the auto used in the crime.
While the four teenagers were remanded in judicial custody, the two juveniles were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board and admitted to a correctional facility in Kellys.
