CHENNAI: Residents caught two robbers when they tried to flee after snatching the
gold chain
of a woman at
Vengal
in
Tiruvallur
district of Tamil Nadu on Thursday evening.
Inquiries revealed that the duo had gone on a chain-snatching spree targeting lonely women walking on the road.
Police said Boobalan and Rajkumar, residents of SIDCO Nagar in Villivakkam, had earlier snatched the gold chains of two women in Mutha Pudupet and Vengal. They were caught red-handed in their third attempt.
On Thursday evening, the duo snatched the gold chain of Gayathri, a resident of Velliyur near Vengal. Hearing her screams, residents came to her rescue. They nabbed the duo and thrashed them before handing them them over the Vengal police.
The police registered a case and arrested them.
