Two arrested for smuggling meth, cocaine

Chennai: Two suspects were arrested for smuggling cocaine and methamphetamine in separate incidents on Thursday.
In an incident at Valasaravakkam, police arrested D Boobalan, 21, of Saligramam, for smuggling methamphetamine. Police seized a mobile phone and four grams of methamphetamine from him. Police said Boobalan was studying a visual communication course at a private college in the city. He was caught near Thanthai Periyar Park on RK Salai.
In another incident, the Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit (ANIU) arrested Niyaz Ahmed, 25, a resident of Thiruvanmiyur, from a hideout in JJ Nagar for smuggling cocaine. On Jan 31, police arrested a man, Sree Appu, 29, of Mogappair East, for smuggling the drug and seized 2.3g of cocaine from him. Based on his confession, the police team tracked Niyaz Ahmed's movements and arrested him on Thursday.
