CHENNAI: A college student, who is the son of a TV serial actor, died when his car rammed a median in Velachery on Thursday night. His two friends escaped with injuries.
The deceased have been Nithish Aathitya, 21, of R A Puram, who was pursuing his third year BCA at Hindustan College in Kelambakkam. His father, Karthik, is a TV serial actor.
The injured have been identified as I Jaya Krishna, 25, and P Venkatesan, 26. Their condition is said to be out of danger.
On Thursday afternoon, the trio went to play cricket at Medavakkam. The accident happened around 8.30pm when they were going towards Taramani.
Nithish, who was driving the car in a rash manner, lost control of the vehicle near the Vijayanagar bus stand and rammed median.
Passersby rescued the trio and rushed them to a nearby private hospital. While Nithish, who suffered multiple injuries, was declared dead on arrival, the two others were admitted to hospital. Nithish’s body was sent to a Govt Royapettah Hospital for a postmortem.
