CHENNAI: While most Chennaiites took a day off, courtesy Cyclone Nisha, pranksters had a whale of a time sending text messages to frighten people. One message doing the rounds related to a tsunami striking Chennai because of an earthquake in the Andamans and Sumatra.
"I received a message saying that because of an earthquake in Sumatra there would be a tsunami in the city anytime.
Since we did not have electricity at home, we could not watch the news to confirm its veracity," said K R Jegadessan of West Mambalam.
The tsunami SMS apparently did not even spare lawyers at the Madras high court or even police personnel. tnn
