He used to put extra effort and stayed till late at night to practise even after the training sessions were over. All of us were inspired by the war to join the army.”

), 37 retired officers came together on Tuesday to unveil a bronze statue of their batchmate Major R Parameshwaran who died fighting LTTE militants inSri Lanka
in 1987. They pooled together Rs 7lakh and got Rs 1 lakh from the Mahar regiment he served.Indian Peace Keeping Force

Also, the OTA drill square was named after him as was the army welfare housing board building in Kodambakkam. ’s case he did not get his due because politically the operations in Sri Lanka was considered sensitive. In Tamil Nadu all political parties were against deployment of the Indian army in Sri Lanka.
