TN woman dies during fertility treatment in Puducherry clinic

PUDUCHERRY: A 36-year-old woman from Tiruvannamalai district, who was admitted to a fertility centre in Puducherry, swooned while undergoing treatment on Friday afternoon. She was rushed to Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) where she died despite medical attention.

The deceased has been identified as D Nathiya, wife of A Dharani, 39. Dharani is a teacher in a private school in Tiruvannamalai town.

They got married nine years ago but did not have any children. The couple approached Ishwarya Women and Child Hospital in Tiruvannamalai town. The doctors referred the woman to Ishwarya Fertility Centre in Puducherry for advanced treatment. The woman was admitted to the centre at 8.30am on Nov 8.

She swooned while under treatment at 12.30pm, and the centre staff members rushed her in an ambulance to JIPMER.
