TN school headmaster accused of sexual abuse dies by suicide

MADURAI: A headmaster accused of sexually abusing girl students died by suicide at Mariyur in Ramanthapuram district of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Seit Ayubkhan, 56, of Mariyoor. He was working as the headmaster of a panchayat union school near Kadaladi.

He allegedly sexually abused some girl students. The parents of the girls lodged a complaint with the District Children Welfare Committee (CWC). CWC and block education officials reached the school on Tuesday and held an inquiry.

Further inquiries were to happen on Wednesday. However, Ayubkhan’s wife found that he did not wake up on Wednesday morning. She became suspicious and opened his room, where he was found hanging.

The Sayalkudi police were informed. The police recovered Ayubkhan’s body and sent it to Kadaladi Govt Hospital for postmortem.
