TN government school teacher held for sexually assaulting six girl students

TIRUPATTUR: An English teacher at a govt girls’ higher secondary school in Tamil Nadu’s Tirupattur district has been arrested on charges of sexually assaulting six girl students.

Police said the district ChildLine had received complaints through its toll-free number 1098 accusing the English teacher, identified as Prabhu, of sexually assaulting and harassing girl students.

Based on the complaint, a team led by the district child protection officers visited the school and made preliminary inquiries. The officer later lodged a complaint with the Vaniyambadi all-woman police.

The police booked the teacher under sections 9 (m) and 10 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, 2012 and Section 75 of the BNS and arrested him on Monday.
