TN governor, others pay tributes to Subramania Bharathi on his 103rd death anniversary

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu governor R N Ravi, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami and others paid tributes to poet Subramania Bharathi on his 103rd death anniversary on Wednesday.

"Grateful nation profoundly remembers the great son of Maa Bharathi, Mahakavi Subramaniya Bharathiyar, on his death anniversary. A beacon of national unity and women’s empowerment, his inspiring patriotic poems played a crucial role during India's freedom movement and continue to resonate deeply in our hearts today, motivating us to forge a stronger, more inclusive India," Ravi posted on X after paying floral tributes to a portrait of late poet in Raj Bhavan.

Minister for Tamil development, information and publicity M P Saminathan, HR &CE minister P K Sekharbabu and others paid floral tributes to the statue of Bharathi on the Kamarajar Salai here.

Edappadi Palaniswami posted on X, "We should recall Bharathi’s contribution to the freedom of the nation and Tamil and pay tributes to him."

AMMK general secretary T T V Dhinakaran posted on X that Bharathi stood for Tamil, Tamils' welfare, women’s freedom and caste abolition and lived for public welfare throughout his life.
