M K Stalin's wife Durga Stalin offered a golden headgear weighing 32 sovereigns to Lord Guruvayurappan, the presiding deity of Guruvayur Sri Krishna Temple, on Thursday. She also offered a machine to grind sandalwood into paste at the temple.
Durga, who arrived at the temple along with her sister
Jayanthi and close relatives, was received by Guruvayur devaswom chairman V K Vijayan, administrator K P Vinayan and temple deputy administrator P Manojkumar.
She placed the headgear on a plantain leaf on the steps leading to the sanctum sanctorum, after dipping it in water. She also placed a 'Kadalikkula' (a plantain variety) and a ghee bottle on the steps.
She waited till the sanctum sanctorum was reopened after the Uchapuja and prayed before the presiding deity after the idol was decked with the golden headgear she offered. The chairman offered 'prasadam' kit, including ghee, banana and payasam, as well as the garland removed from the deity after the puja.
