Tiruvallur district PRO office photographer arrested for cheating job aspirant of Rs 22 lakh
NAMAKKAL: A photographer in the Tiruvallur district PRO office has been arrested on charges of cheating an engineering graduate of Rs 22 lakh by promising a govt job.
The arrested photographer has been identified as Santhana Murthy, 40, of Namagiripettai in Namakkal district.
V Selvakumar, 25, of Vennandur in Namakkal district, approached Murthy seeking his help for getting a govt job. In his complaint to Namakkal superintendent of police S Rajesh Kannan, Selvakumar stated that he gave Selvakumar Rs 22 lakh in September 2021 to secure a govt job. “But I am yet to get a govt job,” Selvakumar said.
The SP directed a special investigation team to look into the matter. Led by Rasipuram DSP M Vijayakumar, the team travelled to Tiruvallur. Investigations confirmed that Murthy had received Rs 22 lakh from Selvakumar. He was arrested and remanded in judicial custody on Thursday.
