Three siblings drown in lake at Marakanam

VILLUPURAM: Three siblings drowned in the Kazhuveli lake at Marakanam in Villupuram district on Sunday.

Police said S Lokesh alias Logu, 24, of Marakanam went to fish in Kazhuveli lake at 7pm on Sunday. He accidentally fell into the lake. His two twin brothers – S Vikram, 20 and S Sooriya -- plunged into the lake to rescue him. However, they too went missing.

The villagers alerted police and fire and rescue services personnel. A team reached the lake and recovered the bodies of the three siblings.

Chief minister M K Stalin condoled the deaths and announced a solatium of Rs two lakh each for the deceased people.
