CHENNAI: Two months after a special sub-inspector was robbed of his mobile phone in a
road rage case near Ramapuram, police arrested three men on Sunday.
On November 6, Uma Shankar, a special sub-inspector of police attached to the Guindy traffic investigation wing, was riding pillion on his friend’s bike when a car hit their bike and they fell in the impact on Mount - Poonamallee highway near Ramapuram.
Uma Shankar who was in civvy then, picked up an argument with three men in the car.
The argument turned ugly and the trio attacked Uma Shankar and snatched his mobile phone and Rs 2,000.
Uma Shankar videographed the incident and lodged a complaint with the Royala Nagar police station. On Saturday, police tracked the mobile phone with the help of its IMEI number and nabbed Kamalakannan, 30, an employee at a car service centre, Shankar, 36, and Raj Kannan, 45. Police recovered the phone from them and remanded all three in judicial custody.
