CHENNAI: A magistrate court has summoned May 17 Iyakkam founder
Thirumurugan Gandhi
to appear before the judiciary on or before December 5 in connection with a case slapped by the Flower Bazaar police personnel on charges of unlawful assembly and causing public nuisance.
Thirumurugan Gandhi and his men had protested near
Chennai Central railway station
in April without obtaining permission from the local police personnel. The Flower Bazaar police had registered a case against
Thirumurugan Gandhi in April.
A chargesheet was filed against Thirumurugan Gandhi in connection with the case slapped on him under IPC Sections 143 (unlawful assembly) and 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant). The order states that Thirumurugan Gandhi shall have to appear before the court on or before December 5 in connection with the case slapped on him.
Thirumurugan Gandhi has 16 cases to his name for unlawful assembly and protests without acquiring proper permission from police personnel in Chennai alone.
