Theatre owners complain against Sun Pictures

CHENNAI: Members of the Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners’ Association on Friday met police commissioner JK Tripathy and lodged a complaint against Sun Pictures and another agency for cheating them of Rs 1.54 crore. In the complaint, state joint secretary Sridar alias Padmanaban claimed Sun Pictures sought the association’s help to identify the right theatres in and around Tiruchi to release ‘Endhiran.
The complaint said theatre owners had incurred a huge loss after screening ‘Endhiran’ and that many had demanded their deposits back. However, the petition said, Hansraj Saxena of Sun Pictures and Ayyappan had threatened them with dire consequences. The petition was forwarded to south Chennai joint commissioner of police KP Shanmuga Rejeswaran for further inquiry.
