CHENNAI: Just two days after stating that he was not joining either
AIADMK or
DMK and denying that no one was in touch with him, the erstwhile propaganda secretary of AMMK, Thanga Tamilselvan, on Friday joined the DMK, along with a group of supporters, in the presence of party president
M K Stalin.
Senior DMK leaders, including party treasurer S Duraimurugan and party parliamentary leader T R Baalu, were present.
The move brought to an end the guessing game in political circles over the past couple of days about the next move of Thanga Tamilselvan.
Both AIADMK and DMK had sent feelers and were keen to get him into their party. In AIADMK, while chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami was keen to offer Tamilselvan a re-entry, his deputy O Panneerselvam stoutly opposed the move.
"AIADMK lacks single leadership and hence party is unable to take any decision. Hence, I did not want to join that party," Tamilselvan told reporters after joining DMK.
"DMK has a strong leadership and Stalin is a hard-working leader. The way he fought a battle, to get a place on Marina for his father's (M Karunanidhi) burial, showed his resolve," Thanga Tamilselvan said.
