CHENNAI: Intrigue surrounds the death of a 20-year-old fresh software company recruit whose body was found on a railway track in Ongole, Andhra Pradesh, after he slipped out of the first-day induction programme at a software company in Thoraipakkam.
Tatikunda Bhanuteja had attended the induction programme on September 23 along with some 200 other recruits.

Before the afternoon session, when the recruits were to produce their fitness certificates, among other things, Bhanuteja left his bag with his colleagues saying he was stepping out to meet a friend of his father. He never returned.
Late in the evening, three of his friends who had checked into a hotel at Sholinganallur, reported to the local police that Bhanuteja was missing. The next day, AP police found his body on a railway track near his house in Ongole.
A source told TOI that the AP police found a vehicle number scribbled on the reverse side of his shirt. It was later traced to a cab in KK Nagar, Chennai. "The cab driver was questioned and the toll gates to Thoraipakkam from the city were checked if such a vehicle had passed by. Nothing conclusive has emerged from the interrogation," the source said.
Thoraipakkam assistant commissioner of police KN Murali said no FIR was filed. "His friends informed the Thoraipakkam police that he was missing. No formal complaint was lodged. However, we decided to investigate the matter, but by then his father, along with a police personnel from AP, was here. Soon they got a call from the AP police saying the youth's body was found from a railway track," Murali said.
Sources said investigations had found that there was no such friend of his father in Chennai that Bhanuteja had referred to. The AP police have collected some names from Bhanuteja's diary, but got no evidence of him having enemies.
