Taxi driver found dead in car

CHENNAI: A call taxi driver was found dead in his car at Nungambakkam on Monday morning.
Police said Muthupandi, 30, of Tirunelveli, who worked as a call taxi driver for the past three years, dropped a customer at Cathedral Garden Road in Nungambakkam on Sunday night. He parked the taxi nearby and slept inside the car.
On Monday morning, a few passersby noticed him lying unconscious inside the car and tried waking him up.When their efforts failed, they called the police. Police reached the spot and sent the body for a postmortem.
Preliminary inquiries revealed that Muthupand had a cardiac arrest last month and also suffered from epileptic fits. Police suspect that he may have suffered epileptic fits while he was sleeping in the car on Sunday night. He had also consumed liquor, police said. "There were no injuries on his body," said an investigating officer.
