Tamil poet Bharathidasan's son dies

Puducherry: Revolutionary Tamil poet Bharathidasan's only son Mannarmannan, a Tamil scholar, died in Puducherry on Monday. He was 92. He is survived by three sons and a daughter.

Mannarmannan had been battling ailments related to old age for the past few years. The last rites ceremony will be held at 4pm on Tuesday. Mannarmanan, who served at the All India Radio, has authored close to 50 literary works. He had served as the president of Pudhuvai Tamil Sangam for several years.

He received several awards including Tamil Nadu government's Thiru Vi Ka and Kalaimamani awards and Puducherry government's Tamilmamani and Kalaimamani awards among others.
