Voting in Tamil Nadu

Voting is under way in Tamil Nadu for 39 Lok Sabha seats. Polling began at 7am and will continue till 5pm. The state is voting in a single phase. Security forces are present at the polling stations to thwart any untoward incident.

A private firm in Krishnagiri constituency allegedly refused to grant leave to its workers on polling day. The company allegedly instructed its 150 employees to report for duty on Friday.

R Chinnaponnu, a 77-year-old woman, when entered the booth in Thammampatty, Salem district, suddenly passed away. The Kallakurichi constituency owns the booth. The doctors in the GH confirmed that she died of sudden cardiac arrest.
