CHENNAI: The Sankar Nagar police on Monday arrested YouTuber Kishore K Swamy for circulating defamatory videos and comments against chief minister
M K Stalin and former CMs and DMK late leaders C N Annadurai and
M Karunanidhi.
Kishore K Swamy was apprehended based on a complaint from the coordinator of DMK IT wing, Kancheepuram district. The complaint stated that Swamy circulated videos with abusive and defamatory
remarks
against the leaders. He had shared them on social media with abusive remarks against the DMK following the government’s decision to train and have women priests in temples.
He has been booked under Section 153 (provocation with intent to cause riot), Section (1)(b) (causing fear or alarm to the public, or to any section of the public whereby any person may be induced to commit an offence against the state or against public tranquility) and Section (1)(C) (whoever makes, publishes or circulates any statement or report containing rumour or alarming news with intent to create or promote, or which is likely to create or promote feelings of enmity, hatred or ill-will between different religious, racial, language or regional groups or castes or communities) of the
Indian
Penal Code.
Swamy was produced before a magistrate in
Chengalpet
and remanded in judicial custody. Swamy was earlier accused of harassing women journalists on social media. He was arrested for it and let out on bail.
