CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu has recorded 84.60% of polling till 6pm on Thursday. It accounts for a total of 4.84 crore out of the total electorate of 5.73 crore in 234 constituencies.Karur district has recorded the highest percentage of polling, with 91.97%, while Salem witnessed a total voting percentage of 90.23%.

Kanyakumari recorded the lowest voting percentage, with 75.50%. It was followed by Ramanathapuram (76.28%), Sivaganga (76.18%), Tirunelveli (77.49%), Tuticorin (79.92%). These districts’ voting percentage fall short of the state’s average.According to the approximate trend of the Election Commission of India (ECI), the state recorded significant momentum in the early hours and maintained it till 1pm. Polling percentage dropped between 1pm and 3 pm due to unfriendly summer heat.The voting gradually picked up pace as electorates reached the polling stations after 3pm, leading the final voting to 84.35% at 6pm.Voting is still continuing in several polling stations as the ECI officials have distributed coupons to voters who entered the premises of the polling station before 6 pm.
