CHENNAI:
DMK on Tuesday wanted the Election Commission to transfer Vellore district collector R Nandagopal who has completed five years in the same post.
In a memorandum to chief electoral officer Rajesh Lakhoni, the party said, “Nandagopal had been working as the district collector in Vellore for three years when he was transferred ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
Soon after the elections, Nandagopal was transferred back to Vellore as collector since he is very loyal to the ruling party,” the party said in the memorandum.
“This means Nandagopal has been working as Vellore collector for past five years, except for a small duration during the time of Lok Sabha election in 2014,” it said.
This was an example of the attempts made by ruling AIADMK government to circumvent the code of conduct by various methods, said the memorandum submitted by DMK organisation secretary R S Bharathi.
