Tamil Nadu assembly polls: NTK manifesto promises five capitals, Seeman pitches ‘ideal TN’ vision
Chennai: Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) on Thursday released its manifesto for the Assembly elections promising to set up five capitals for Tamil Nadu if the party forms govt.
NTK chief coordinator Seeman released the manifesto in Chennai. It said Madurai, Trichy, Coimbatore and Kanyakumari would be made additional capitals for the state.
Trichy will be the administrative capital, Chennai will be the tech capital, Coimbatore will be the business capital, Madurai will be the cultural capital and Kanyakumari the epistemological capital.
The manifesto assured that NTK will work towards a Constitutional Amendment for the people to directly elect the Indian President. NTK will take steps to obtain reserved assembly and parliamentary constituencies for women and to establish a Supreme Court bench in Chennai. NTK will take steps to make voting compulsory for everyone.
NTK said it will pass orders to ensure that all govt employees and people's representatives, including the chief minister, should avail health services only from govt hospitals.
The party will also make it mandatory that children of all govt employees be put up in govt schools.
Speaking to reporters after releasing the manifesto, Seeman said the manifesto reflects NTK's dream of achieving an "ideal TN". "We are moving towards our dream of what our state should become. It has been our vision for a long time, and we are determined to achieve it," Seeman said.
