Tamil film actor’s son among seven detained for link with ganja peddlers

Chennai: The JJ Nagar police in Chennai have detained seven people, including Tamil film actor Mansoor Ali Khan’s son, for their alleged link with some arrested ganja and narcotic drug peddlers.

On Nov 4, police arrested five men -- including Mohammad, 41, of Mannadi and his brother Jayamujin, 37 -- who were selling ganja and narcotic drugs using a mobile app. The Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit (ANIU) collected their mobile numbers. While checking their call list, the police team found a fresh list of peddlers and consumers.

On Nov 30, the ANIU police team seized ganja oil from two college students staying in Kattankulathur. Subsequently, the police team arrested two students hailing from Kerala and seized ganja oil from them.

The latest detention of seven suspects, including the actor’s son, occurred after they frequently contacted the mobile numbers of the ganja oil peddlers and engaged in cash transactions with them. Further investigations are on.
