CHENNAI: Tamil film and TV serial actor R Selvakumar died in a road accident at T Nagar in Chennai on Thursday night. He was 59.
Police said Selvakumar, a resident of T Nagar, was returning home after a programme when the speedometer wire of his two-wheeler got entangled in the front wheel. He lost control of the two-wheeler and fell on the road. The actor suffered head injuries and died on the spot. He was not wearing helmet.
His friend, Kovai Senthil, who was riding pillion on the two-wheeler, suffered injuries. Senthil was admitted to a private hospital.
Selvakumar had acted in more than 300 films and television serials. The films he had acted include Vijayakanth-starrer Ramanna and actor Vikram’s Aniyan.
Selvakumar is survived by his wife K Geetha and two daughters.
