and rebel AIADMK leader and independent candidate T T V Dhinakaran are involved in an acrimonious campaign to garner public attention and support from AIADMK cadres.

With an opinion poll already giving

an edge over Madhusudhanan and even hinting at the possibility of him emerging a winner, the former has intensified his attack on the ruling party candidate rather than DMK candidate N Marudhu Ganesh.

“A majority of AIADMK cadres are with me and are supporting me to put the betrayers in their place. Even the public, unhappy with the state government, are extending their support and have vowed to vote for the ‘pressure cooker’ symbol,” said TTV on the campaign trail.

“The last time, when I contested the elections as part of the ruling party, the government had promised free houses for the poor and once the election was cancelled, they forgot about it,” he said.


Reacting to this, Madhusudhanan said, “Why is Dhinakaran talking about AIADMK? Is he part of the party? He was expelled by

from the party and with no one admitting him back, he does not even hold an AIADMK membership. How can he talk about AIADMK? This is Amma’s territory. This government has promised to build 54,000 houses for the people and it will be done,” says Madhusudhanan, even while terming the opinion poll hinting at TTV being the winner as a“joke”.
