CHENNAI: Elatchia Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Vijaya T Rajendhar on Tuesday moved the Madras high court seeking a directtion to the Election Commission to take action against the Tiruchi police who allegedly prevented his party candidate Mansoor Ali Khan from campaigning for the elections.
In his writ petition, Rajendhar said Khan, the party's candidate for the Tiruchi constituency, was prevented from campaigning on April 19 in that city.

Khan had flexboards, containing messages condemning the killing of Tamils in Sri Lanka, on his car and the police tore the boards and threatened to arrest him if he continued with the campaign, Rajendhar said.
Justice K Suguna, before whom the petition came up for hearing, directed the petitioner counsel to serve the papers on the EC's standing counsel and posted the case to Friday for further hearing.
