CHENNAI: Nearly four months after NEET-PG results, the Medical Counselling Committee at the Centre has announced that registration for postgraduate medical and dental admissions will open on July 27. Admissions will be completed online by October 10. The state selection committee under the directorate of medical education, however said, no dates have been fixed yet for the state counselling.

The last date for submitting filled-in applications for post-graduate courses ended on July 17. “We are still in the process of scrutinizing applications. The dates for counselling will be announced when we release the rank list,” said selection committee secretary Dr R Muthuselvan. “But that depends on the formal information we receive from the central committee,” he said..

“We released the rank list for the undergraduate students nearly a week ago. We are ready to start our counselling and even drew up a temporary date as July 25,” he said. States such as Gujarat have released a tentative schedule for the admission process. The results for the entrance test, NEET-PG were declared on March 14, 2023, less than 10 days after the test was conducted on March 5, 2023. Candidates who wrote the post-graduate medical entrance said they had to fight with the Centre to revise the cut-off date for completion of the internship for NEET-PG 2023 eligibility to June 30, 2023 because internships in most colleges were delayed due to the pandemic. Students from Chennai had to travel for more than 24 hours to reach some centres because there weren’t enough seats.
