SRM cultural fest Milan to focus on martyrs this year

CHENNAI: SRM Institute of Science and Technology's annual cultural and sports extravaganza Milan 2019 will focus on contributing to the cause of martyrs.


The five-day fest, which began on Wednesday, boasts of 150 events covering music, dance and more, and features celebrities like Salim-Suleiman, Jonita Gandhi, Ritviz, Rohan Joshi among others. International electronic dance music duo

Bassjackers

are also slated to perform this year.

Termed 'MILAN for a Cause', the programme, organised in association with the Times of India, will focus on contributing towards the cause of martyrs and their families.

The college will be working with

Mother India

's Crotchet Queens(MICQ), an organization that has undertaken a project to knit scarves for soldiers, and Bharat ke Veer, a government organization that provides support to the families of the soldiers who have lost their lives in line of duty. Proceeds from Milan '19 will go to these charitable organizations, a press release said.

Salim-Sulaiman, the brains behind many of Bollywood's biggest hits and India-born Canadian singer Jonita Gandhi will perform on Thursday. Comedians Rohan Joshi and Saurav Mehta will perform at Comedy Night on Sunday.
