Southern Railway is observing a Vigilance Awareness Week from October 18 to November 2.
The Vigilance Awareness Week began with an integrity pledge being administered by SR general manager
John Thomas to the officers and staff.
Later, a seminar on Vigilance Awareness was held in which the general manager and senior officials participated.
Retired IAS officer R Santhanam was the chief guest.
In his keynote address, Santhanam spoke about ways to handle conflicts in personal life and probity in public life which is often the major reason for corruption. He also shared his experiences in various responsibilities he had held during his service in the Tamil Nadu government.
Santhanam’s speech was followed by an interactive session in which he provided suggestions to handle the challenges faced by government officials.
A series of outreach programmes and seminars have been planned for the week on asset integrity monitoring technology, forensic accounting and intelligent re-fuelling solutions for railways. Quiz,
essay competitions, elocution and other competitions for students and others will also be held.
