Chennai: A 42-year-old man stabbed his neighbour and his wife to death following a dispute over a suspected affair at Kanathur Reddikuppam on Monday night.S Parthiban alias Parthasarathy, a car driver and fisherman, lived in the same locality as Sushil Raj, 32, a fisherman, and his wife Girija, 29. For a long time, Parthiban suspected that his wife, Jamuna, had an affair with Sushil Raj, police said. Frequent quarrels broke out between the couple over the issue. About one-and-a-half years ago, following one such dispute, Jamuna left Parthiban and moved to her mother's house in Saidapet. Since then, he lived alone.

On Monday night an argument broke out when Girija questioned Parthiban for parking a two-wheeler outside his house. During the exchange, she made remarks about his strained marriage. Enraged, Parthiban went inside his house, picked up two kitchen knives, and attacked her.When Sushil Raj tried to intervene, he was also stabbed. Girija died on the spot due to severe injuries. Sushil Raj was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his wounds.The bodies were sent to the Royapettah GH for postmortem examination. Police arrested Parthiban and remanded him in judicial custody. Further investigation is underway.
