RAMESWARAM: A court at Mannar remanded six fishermen from Rameswaram in judicial custody on Wednesday, two days after they were apprehended by the Sri Lankan navy.
The fishermen were stranded in the Sri Lankan waters after their boat’s engine developed a snag. The navy took them to Talaimannar on Tuesday and were handed over to the fisheries department.

They were produced before the Mannar court on Wednesday. The court remanded them in judicial custody till September 24. Later, they were taken to the Anuradhapuram prison, according to U Arulanandam of the Alliance for Release of Innocent Fishermen.
Samson, a 13-year-old boy, preferred to stay with other arrested fishermen, instead of going to a prison for minors.
