NAMAKKAL: Six people died when a truck rammed into a sport utility vehicle (SUV) they were travelling in at Chinnaveppanatham near Namakkal in Tamil Nadu on Friday night.
Police said the deceased were yet to be identified. “The accident took place around 11.15pm,” a senior police official at the Namakkal town police station told TOI.
The SUV was heading to Namakkal from Kattuputhur in Trichy district while the brick- laden truck was going to Trichy from Salem. The truck driver, whose identity was not known, managed to escape from the accident spot.
Traffic on the Namakkal- Trichy highway was affected for nearly two hours after the accident. The Namakkal town police registered a case.
