Group B match at the IIT-Chemplast ground here on Saturday. Chasing 286 for a win, Sinivas joined U Mukilesh (67) with Alwarpet struggling on 113 for six in 27.2 overs. But the duo put together a 129-run stand for the seventh wicket to take Alwarpet closer to victory. It was D Rahul who finished the job for the side with four balls to spare. He scored an unbeaten 23 off 14 balls, including three boundaries and a six.


In the other match, Akshay V Srinivasan hit a century (102, 149b, 8x4, 1x6) to help Madras CC notch up a 31-run victory via VJD method over Young Stars. MCC had scored 216 for seven but the target was revised to 202 in 45 overs after a brief spell of rain hampered the proceedings. Left-arm spinner S Boopalan took three wickets to restrict Young Stars.
