Singapore-bound Air India flight makes emergency landing in Chennai

CHENNAI: An Air India flight bound for Singapore was forced to make an emergency landing back at Chennai international airport on Friday due to a sudden mechanical failure. All 167 people on board, including 159 passengers and eight crew members, were safe.

The flight, initially scheduled to depart at 12.45am, took off at 2.30am. Midway through the journey, the aircraft encountered technical glitches. The pilot alerted the Chennai airport control room and was instructed to return for an emergency landing.

The aircraft landed safely at the airport at 4.10am, with all necessary safety measures in place. Passengers were disembarked and accommodated in the terminal lounge while engineers examined the aircraft. Unable to resolve the issue immediately, Air India arranged an alternative flight.

At 7.30am, the passengers left for Singapore on the alternative flight.
