CHENNAI: Actor-turned-politician Seeman to appear before the investigation officers who are probing the sexual harassment charges filed by actor Vijayalakshmi in a complaint against him from 2011.

After Vijayalakshmi filed a separate complaint on August 31, demanding the city police to register a case against Seeman for cheating, rape and prevention of women harassment act.

Earlier, the police team from the Valasaravakkam police station handed over the summons issued under Section 160 of CrPC, which empowers a police officer to require the attendance of a witness, to appear before the police officer on Saturday around 10.30am.

The medical procedure went on for about two hours, and a team of four doctors performed the tests. The doctors' team will submit their detailed report to the concerned court through the police personnel.

Earlier, Vijayalakshmi recorded statements against director-politician Seeman at a Tiruvallur court on September 1. She complained that Seeman married and then cheated on her. The Ramapuram police team inquired about her on Thursday, based on Vijayalakshmi's complaint against Seeman filed in 2011, leveling charges including rape, extortion, and cheating.

Vijayalakshmi is popular for portraying Vijay's onscreen sister; she was paired up with Suriya in 'Friends.' In 2011, she filed a complaint at the Valasaravakkam police station in Chennai, alleging that Seeman, a director, actor, and chief coordinator of the Naam Tamilar Party, had cheated on her. Later, she continued to make accusations against Seeman and expressed her fear by sharing videos on social media. She also attempted suicide in 2020, as she suffered from depression.

Starting his cinematic journey as a director, Seeman then opted to play supporting roles in movies. Since 2011, he has been actively involved in politics, heading the Naam Tamilar Party. Seeman married Kayalvizhi in 2013 and the couple was blessed with a baby boy in 2019.
