Sasikala, Dhinakaran move HC to stop EPS-OPS faction from holding AIADMK's organisational posts

Sidelined AIADMK leaders V K Sasikala and TTV Dhinakaran have approached the Madras high court seeking to restrain members of the faction led by Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam from holding the organisational posts of the party.

CHENNAI: Sidelined AIADMK leaders V K Sasikala and TTV Dhinakaran have approached the Madras high court seeking to restrain members of the faction led by Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam from holding the organisational posts of the party.
The duo have also sought a series of reliefs from the court including orders declaring that the resolutions passed in the September 12 meeting organised by the other faction expelling them from the party as illegal and void.

Pressing for an interim injunction against the EPS-OPS faction from operating the bank accounts of the party, they have has claimed that only MLA (Thanjavur) M Rengasamy who was appointed as the treasurer of the party by its general secretary Sasikala in September 2017 is entitled to operate the accounts.
When the plea moved as a civil suit came up for hearing before Justice C V Karthikeyan on Thursday, the judge ordered notice to Palaniswami, Panneerselvam, E Madhusudhanan, S Semmalai, and Dindigul C Sreenivasan returnable by November 29.
This apart, the court also directed AIADMK headquarter manager P Mahalingam to submit the details of bank accounts maintained by the party and persons authorised to operate them by November 10.
The petitioners has also sought the court to restrain the EPS-OPS faction from conducting general council meeting of the AIADMK and not to interfere with the rights of the duo from functioning as the general secretary and deputy general secretary of the party and discharge their day-to-day duties.
