CHENNAI: If you have a passion for music and love for animals, then Bengaluru is the place to head to on September 3. For Charlies Animal Rescue Centre (CARE) is conducting a fundraising rock and blues evening, ‘Dog of Rock’, at Vapour Pub and Brewery.
The organisation, headed by Sudha Narayanan, founder-trustee of CARE, was established in 2013. “The shelter was originally built on half an acre of land adjacent to the Jakkur lake,” says senior volunteer Mandy Vasudevan.

“But now we are in the process of moving to a new place near Yelahanka.”
CARE houses 50 dogs for whom it is their permanent home as well as several cats and kittens, guinea pigs, rabbits, and two pigs. “We are planning to build an enclosure for abandoned dogs. The one we had earlier was slightly small and now we want to have a more spacious one, that’s why we are doing a fundraiser,” says Vasudevan, who has been putting together the whole event.
The concert will feature three bands Thermal and A Quarter, Peepal Tree and The Chronic Blues Circus. “All of them are playing pro bono,” says Vasudevan.
Tickets for the show are priced at Rs 500 and are available on bookmyshow.com.
