Robbers snatch Rs 2 lakh from retired doctor

: Miscreants snatched a bag containing Rs 2 lakh from a retired government doctor near Christian Medical College (

CMC

) Hospital in the early hours of Wednesday.

Police said, Dr Selvam, 60, a resident of Harur in Dharmapuri district, had admitted his father-in-law at CMC. He was carrying cash for medical expenses in a bag. When Selvam and his relative Gajendran were walking near China Town restaurant, an unidentified person tailing the duo snatched the bag from Selvam and mounted his associate’s bike and rode off. The incident took place around 5am.

Selvam has lodged a complaint at the Vellore North police station. The police, however, said the complainant stated that a man snatched the bag in which he kept his mobile phone. “We have registered a case in this connection and the investigation is on. We are looking for the CCTVs installed in the vicinity to identify the robbers,” said police inspector M Arivazhagan.
