Rise in quantum of waste collected from Chennai beaches

Waste collected from Elliott's Beach and Marina Beach has seen an increase in the last two days after Chennai received heavy rain.

CHENNAI: Waste collected from Elliott's Beach and Marina Beach has seen an increase in the last two days after Chennai received heavy rain.
On an average, daily garbage collected from Marina Beach and Elliot’s Beach is to the extent of 2MT and 1MT, respectively. But on Tuesday and Wednesday, there was increase in the quantum of garbage collected due to the trash washed ashore.

On Elliot’s Beach, 2.5MT and 2MT garbage were collected on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. On Marina Beach, 3.15MT and 3MT were collected on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to data from the Greater Chennai Corporation.
