CHENNAI:

PMK

chief S

Ramadoss

on Wednesday urged the Tamil Nadu government to disburse funds to

Annamalai University

and state transport corporations and find a permanent solution to the financial crisis.

In a statement, the PMK founder-leader alleged that except for the professors and teachers at Annamalai University, salaries of other staff members for September had not been paid.

He claimed that in the Coimbatore division of the state transport corporation, salaries were paid for only half the month. He claimed that pension for retired transport staff was yet to be paid.

Ramadoss alleged that the financial crisis in the transport corporations had persisted for the last five years and the state government was yet to come up with a permanent solution for it.

He urged the government to disburse sufficient funds to the transport corporations to pay salaries to employees and pension to retired employees.

He alleged that the state government had initially claimed that Annamalai University had hired too many people. But since then, more than 3,000 employees had been transferred to other places, he said. This should have helped improve the financial situation in the University, he said.

The state government should take steps to reduce the university's expenses and manage the crisis, he added.
