Ramadoss urges Centre to resume presenting Tholkappiar and seven other awards
CHENNAI: PMK founder S Ramadoss has urged the Union govt to resume presenting the Tholkappiar and seven other awards at the earliest.
In a post on X on Saturday, Ramadoss pointed out that the Tholkappiar award and seven other awards to distinguished scholars, who made outstanding contributions to classical Tamil language and literature, had not been announced since 2016.
He said the Union govt instituted the awards in 2005 and 160 distinguished scholars should have received them by now. “But the Centre has presented them to only 66 scholars thus far,” he added.

Thank you, Doctor. But wil the DMK/DK government award Tholkappiyar award? in stanza 1194, our earliest available poet-grammarian goes like, "Whether it is the world of the celestials endowed with unwinking eyes.........." These geniuses deny even the soul! Of course we have souls, Doctor. We are sure that only animals do not have souls.Read allPost comment
