Psychotherapist in Nagapattinam children’s home arrested for harassing minor girls
NAGAPATTINAM: A psychotherapist in a children's home in Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu was arrested on Thursday on charges of sexually harassing minor girls.
Sathyaprakash was appointed as a psychotherapist in the children's home in 2021. His responsibilities included conducting classes for more than 55 girl students residing in the home.
Based on a complaint filed by a female superintendent of the home, Nagapattinam all-women police booked him under sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for repeatedly following, observing and contacting children with sexual intent. The complaint stated that Sathyaprakash had been engaging in inappropriate gestures and posing undesirable questions to the girls, aged between 15 and 17 years, while teaching them.
Police arrested him after investigating and confirming the commission of the crime.
