PMK will fight for bringing Cauvery surplus water to Dharmapuri: Sowmiya Anbumani
DHARMAPURI: Sowmiya Anbumani, who unsuccessfully contested in the recent Lok Sabha elections on NDA ticket, on Wednesday stressed the commitment of PMK to push for the implementation of the Cauvery surplus water project. She recalled the efforts of her husband and Rajya Sabha member Dr Anbumani Ramadoss in bringing the Hogenakkal integrated drinking water project to Dharmapuri district.
She pointed out chief minister M K Stalin's announcement of 15 new projects for the district, emphasizing that several of them were previously demanded and advocated by PMK MLAs in the assembly.
During the second leg of her tour in Dharmapuri constituency on Wednesday, Sowmiya visited Athakapadi village to express her gratitude to the voters who supported her in the Lok Sabha election.
Asked about the PMK candidate’s defeat in recent Vikravandi byelection, she said despite the ruling party's financial resources and political influence, her party managed to secure more votes than ever before.
Asked about Karnataka's recent decision to release 8,000 cusecs into the river Cauvery, Sowmiya pointed out that the dams in the neighbouring state have a storage capacity of only 104 TMC. "Due to continuous heavy rainfall, they are forced to release the surplus water once the dams reach full capacity," she said, adding that they have no choice but to open their sluices.

PMK is a vanniyar caste people party. It cannot achieve any growth beyond the caste population. It allied with BJP in last election for money and minister berth in vain. It will soon join ADMK in next election as BJP hindu politics is getting exposed at national level.Read allPost comment
