PM Modi hails Chennai's Rs 5 doctor as hero

CHENNAI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday hailed the Chennai’s popular

as a “hero”.




The PM, from his official handle, tweeted, "Chennai based Dr. S. Jayachandran is a hero. His was a life purely for the betterment of others."

Chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, in the meantime, expressed his anguish over the death of Jayachandran. In a statement, the CM said that it was a childhood dream of Jayachandran to become a doctor upon seeing the loss of lives in his native owing to poor medical care. in 1971. "I extend my deepest condolences and sympathies to the bereaved family and Royapuram residents, who received the selfless service of Jayachandran," Palaniswami said.
