He wanted the court's permission to file a writ petition in connection with the ongoing pilot-management tussle at Jet Airways.
First, he wanted the court to restrain the management from invoking the provisions of Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) against the pilots. The other prayer was to restrain the management from initiating any action against any pilot or removing any of them from service.
The NAG also sought to file a separate writ petition to direct the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation to check each flight of the Jet Airways and ensure that the mandatory and adequate safety norms were being followed.
